Training of trainers in prevention of child sexual abuse in Moldova by F. Javier Romeo

[Post in Spanish. Read the post in English]

Since summer 2019 I have been involved in a new project of the Council of Europe in the Republic of Moldova, a project that aims to improve training in the prevention and detection of child sexual abuse in this country.

For me it was very interesting to collaborate again with the Council of Europe in this topic. My first collaboration with the Council of Europe was the development of materials Bell “One in five” and its launch in Spain during 2010 and 2011. Then came training for professionals in Tunisia 2017 and collaboration 2018 with the launch of the Bell “Start to Talk”, related campaign of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Spain “Child sexual abuse is out of play”.

Last October 2019 I had the honor to facilitate formation of expert trainers for kindergarten teachers in Chişinău, the capital of the Republic of Moldova. Then I had the opportunity to train professionals who will continue to train kindergarten teachers in prevention and detection, in line with the work that has been carrying out the Council of Europe working with the government of the Republic of Moldova and the CNPAC (National Center for Prevention of Child Abuse, the National Center for the Prevention of Child Sexual Abuse).

A few days trip back to Chişinău ago to oversee a training of trainers in the methodology that was used had developed Pepa Horno and I. It was a pleasure to see the magnificent professional CNPAC adapting the methodology to their own styles and to the specificities of Moldova. I could also reflect on my own way of conveying, and I found key to further progress in the development of materials.

There remain some final products of this project, I keep informing them.

F. Javier Romeo
